Best 11 conditioners for dry hair

If you confront with dull, frizzy hair, then it is very important to pick the best conditioners for dry hair. Hair generally gets frizzy because it lacks moisture, so, in order to receive that moisture, it need to be properly hydrated, and the best thing you can do in this case is choosing an extra nutritive conditioner.

I’ve been trying many conditioning products, some based on essential oils, others based on plant extracts, and here I have tried to select the ones that had the best effect and the ones that have the best quality-price ratio. Here is my top 11 (descending, of course, I can’t tell you my favorite from the first 😀 )

The TRESemme Luxurious Moisture Conditioner is an excellent detangler, as it offers the deep moisture your dry hair needs. Thought you may not expect it, its price is not very high, actually it’s one of the best, considering the price/quantity ratio. A great advantage is that it also works well on fine hair.

However, it does what it promises, but not more (moisture talking), so it’s a very good product if you have pretty dry hair, but don’t expect it to do miracles for a very dry hair.

Probably one of the most famos and most used dry hair product, Hello Hydration 2-in-1 Moisturizing Hair Shampoo & Conditioner is the perfect product if you don’t have too much time for your hair. It has a great, coconut fragrance and its action is very gentle and does not produce dandruff (at least in my case).

The price is also very good, and the quantity sufficient for a pretty long time (of course it depends). However, it  is an average product that may not make miracles if your hair is very dry and coarse.

This All Soft Heavy Cream Super Treatment shows very good results because of its double action: first, it tames frizzy, dry hair and then it also repairs damaged hair ends, making them seem more hydrated and, therefore, healthier.

From this reason, it could easily replace a professional conditioner (at least I believe so). Believe it or not, the price is not very high, actually it’s quite affordable to anyone.

This great shea butter based on conditioner can be used as both normal and leave-in, thus being a perfect 2 in 1 hair conditioner. It has a very light smell, ideal for persons who don’t tolerate strong fragrances.

It’s an excellent anti-frizzing agent, and also perfect for curly hair, as it maintains curls deeply hydrated for a long period. If you live in a humid area, then this conditioner is definitely a must-have!

Joico’s K-pak Conditioner smooths frizzy hair very well after the first wash. A big advantage is that it works great on bleached hair, offering the moisture needed. This product really tames your hair, even if not used at every wash, so it maintains its effect on a longer period, which is a big plus.

The scent is also very nice, and the quantity sufficient for a long period (again, this was in my case), and the price is quite good, comparing it to the quantity of the product.

Shea Moisture’s Community Commerce Hydration Intensive Conditioner was specially designed for black women, whose hair is usually prone to dryness, but it is still very useful for white women too.

As you probably noticed from its name, it promises deep hydration and it makes hair really really soft, extremely easy to brush. I’ve noticed that there are less hairs on my brush, so this is a big plus for this product. It’s also paraben-free, made exclusively of organic ingredients.

The price is not the smallest, that’s true, but I believe it’s really worth it.

Paul Mitchell’s Super Charged Moisturizer is, just like you noticed from its name, designed to offer a deep hydration, so it’s perfect for very dry hair. What I really love about it is that it doesn’t weight down your hair, like many moisturizing products do. Therefore, it is perfect for quotidian use, especially because of its great smell.

This conditioner’s action is visible when you have to brush your hair as it immediately eliminates tangles, so hair gets very easy to brush. You can see the difference after only one use!

4. ARGAN OIL CONDITIONER from Maple Holistics

This conditioner is sulfate free, which is very important because sulfates are usually responsible for that frizzy, untamed hair we get sometimes. It contains many oils, some of which I frequently use in homemade masks, so it made me really trust its nutritive action.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t very impressed by the smell, which is quite…absent. Maple Holistics Argan Oil Conditioner deeply hydrates the hair, so you don’t have to worry about frizzy hair in the next days.

A great thing about it is that you don’t have to apply very much, so one bottle could last a long  period. The price/quantity ratio is also pretty good.

3. REPAIR CONDITIONER from Tru Moroccan

An Argan Oil based, Tru Moroccan Repair Conditioner has the same p1(or even a better) nourishing effect as all the products containing this oil. A great thing about it is that it definitely prevents hair from becoming frizzy.

This conditioner also has an amazing smell, somewhere between citrus and herbs, fresh and light. Another advantage of using it is that you can also use it as a leave-in (apply a smaller quantity, obviously 🙂 ), in order to maintain your hair perfectly hydrated. It has natural ingredients, including Jojoba and the already mentioned Argan Oil, ideal for extreme hydration.

The price is not very high, quite affordable I would say, and it’s definitely worth every penny!

This extremely long named conditioner works miraculously on hair that is extremely dry, damaged or fragile.

A big advantage is that it also offers thermic protection, so you don’t have to use another product if you want to style your hair. In this way, it allows you to maintain your hair healthy while using styling tools. Surprisingly or not, although it works amazing on dry hair, it isn’t so effective for other types of hair, that don’t need extreme hydration.

The biggest downside is that it is probably a bit expensive, so you have to spend a few extra money.

Here we are at my favorite conditioner for dry hair! This is the product that, so far, has made the best impression on me, thanks to its amazing ingredients and miraculous action over my badly dehydrated hair.

This amazing conditioner from JustNatural is specially designed for very dry, damaged hair.

Containing Macademia Nut oils and Buritit fruit extracts, it promises to tame rough, course hair and to restore its vitality and health. The good part is that it actually does! Not to forget the fact that it also smells amazing.

Although the price isn’t quite the smallest, the quantity is high enough for even 3 months, I would say, so for me it was a very good investment.

Another thing worth saying is not only that it contains exclusively natural ingredients, but it also doesn’t contain any dose of alcohol, which is a very rare thing in nowadays products.

Best hair treatments at home

best hair treatments homeWhen it comes to picking the best hair treatments made right at home, there are many options you can choose from. The most important thing is selecting the adequate treatment, that would have the best effect on your type of hair.

Did you know that the avocado oil is very similar to the one naturally released by our skin, therefore it’s  mainly used for dry hair and psoriasis? Or that the gentle acid action of lemon is way better than many cosmetic products, so it is recommended if you want to get rid of dandruff?

best hair treatments honeyFor VERY DRY HAIR, honey is the best ally.  Combining it with olive oil and half an avocado, you can make sure you get much better results (especially because honey is usually pretty hard to rinse and olive oil makes it more liquid).

best hair treatments avocadoIf you don’t have avocado, you can use a banana, but first make sure you blend it, so that you don’t get small banana pieces all over you hair.

Mix all the ingredients together until they become a liquid mass, then apply it to your hair, making sure you cover the whole hair. You should let it sit for at least half an hour and then rinse with warm water.

For THIN HAIR or when dealing with a massive hair loss, a highly recommended product is castor oil.

best hair treatments thin hairWhether is it combined with several ingredients or not, castor oil is very easy to apply on the hair and the expected results will appear pretty fast.

If you want to apply castor oil without any combination, the best way would be applying it before going to bed, tying your hair in a bun and covering it. In this way, your hair will absorb the nutrients from the oil and the effects will be even better.

best hair treatments castor oilIn case you don’t have time to wash your hair in the morning, you can try applying the oil in the afternoon and letting it sit for 1 or 2 hours. I used to let it more, though, but I think this should be enough. Be careful to shampoo your hair very well, the last thing you wanna get are oily roots 😀

On the other hand, if you prefer combining castor oil with other nutritive ingredients, you can make a hair mask from an egg yolk, a spoonful of olive oil and a little lemon juice. I usually add a few drops of vitamin A and E, for an extra fortification. You should apply the mask to your hair and let it sit for about two hours, then rinse it very well.

best hair treatments oily hairIf you have GREASY, OILY HAIR, it may lack some nutrients that maintain a balanced pH, ideal for hair. The best hair masks in this case are the ones based on yogurt.

You should mix a cup of yogurt with a whole egg, and you could optionally add a few spoonfuls of almond oil. If you don’t have almond oil, you can replace it with coconut or olive oil, so that the mask gets a more liquid consistency. In this case, half an hour is enough to let it sit, then you can rinse with warm water.
