Suave Hair Mask Review

Suave Professionals’ Shine Mask is a hair care innovation, thanks to its ability to deeply moisturize even the most brittle hair and add a lot of extra shine to it. That’s why, it’s the perfect product for someone with damaged, colored or frizzy hair, but also for someone who only wants to get the salon-like shiny hair.

However, let’s sum thing up a bit and get to the review. 😀

The “conditioner like” hair mask

What I mean by this is that the time it needs to sit on the hair is 3-5 minutes, just as little as a conditioner.

Suave Hair Mask

This is Suave Hair Mask’s consistency, pretty similar to a conditioner’s.

If you’re familiar with using either home made or bought hair masks, you probably know that you usually have to keep them on your hair for a pretty long time, from half an hour to several hours. This may be quite tiresome and boring, especially because you have to stay in the house, with your hair covered with a towel…

But that’s not the case with the Suave Hair Mask. The time it needs to sit on your hair is not more than 3-5 minutes, just like I said at the beginning. This is a great step for a hair mask! Time means a lot for most people, this is why hair masks are generally less used than any other hair care products.

So finding a hair mask that could save you some hours and at the same time offer your hair a deep conditioning treatment… well, this is absolutely awesome! 🙂

Your best hair shine ally

This hair mask is not only recommended for treating damaged hair, but also for giving your hair an extra shine.

Yes, you’ve read well, shiny hair is one of the purposes this product is made for. The Moroccan Argan Oil is the best when it comes to hair shine, so that’s why it is the most important ingredient from Suave’s Hair Mask. It will not only make your hair look glossy and healthy, but it will also maintain this shine for several days. Doesn’t sound very bad, does it? 🙂

Suave Hair Mask ReviewYou’re definitely not going to get that shine you see in ads or beauty magazines (that would be awesome but quite impossible for now), but your hair will look much brighter and you’ll be able to tell the difference. And this, from the very first wash.

From my personal experience, I can tell you that the shine aspect is my favorite thing about this conditioner. I mean, it really makes it look glossy and brighter than before, it’s not just a story.

It convinced me after the first time I’ve tried, and my hair isn’t normally very shiny, on the contrary…

Take a look at my photo from above: on the left is my normal, curly hair, and on the right is my hair, straightened right after using Suave’s Hair Mask. Can you see any difference? I can. 😉

A smoothing master

This hair mask really was a smoothing master for my hair. I mean, it really managed to get rid of my usual after-wash tangles it and make it extremely easy to brush, so easy that I thought it wasn’t my own hair!

Suave Hair Mask ReviewI’m joking of course, but this smoothing effect really amazed me, maybe because I didn’t expect to find such a good detangler in such a cheap hair shine mask.

In my opinion, a shiny hair absolutely has to be a smooth hair. Else, it’s pretty complicated to see the shine. That’s why you don’t see glossy hair in people with curly hair, like me. It’s much more difficult to see the shine on hair that is full of tangles. But that’s life. 😛

The “hair shine secret” that Suave products have is that they smooth your hair very well, making it glow of health and vitality. Once this happens, the hair becomes shiny and so easy to manage.

That’s why I like this hair mask so much. Many products only smooth hair, but Suave also makes it shiny. And that’s a big advantage. 😀

A great investment at such a low price

Yes, that’s right, this is the exact expression I could use if I wanted to describe Suave’s Hair Mask.

Suave Hair Mask ReviewMaybe I should have talked about this aspect right at the beginning, because price is a very important thing when it comes to any product, but I’ll only do it now.

As I’ve said before, I was extremely surprised to find such a good detangler, hair shine and smoothing product in such a cheap hair mask. I mean, it’s only $7… It’s true that the quantity isn’t huge, but even so, it’s an extremely good price! I don’t know any other hair mask with so many benefits that is so cheap as Suave.

Honestly… I would say it works like a $37 hair mask, not like a $7 one.

I won’t deepen this point, for me it’s a great price and an even greater product, so I’ll let you guys decide the rest. 😉

To conclude

All in all, Suave’s Hair Mask is an amazing product for smoothing and shine, a product that I use at every wash before straightening my hair. Now that I’m thinking, I guess my straightened hair would look pretty bad without it. At least, compared to how it looks with it.  😀

How to apply a hair mask correctly

If you’ve read some of my other posts, you’ve probably seen that I often recommend the use of home made hair masks, simply because they only contain natural stuff. Recently, people have asked me many times how to apply a hair mask correctly, so in this post I want to explain you how I do this procedure and how it would be best to do it, according to your hair type.

In case you want to see some hair masks idea, you can check my post Best hair treatments at home.

Wet or dry hair?

how to darken hair with coffeehow to apply a hair mask correctlyThis is one of the most common questions people have. Is it better to apply a hair mask on wet hair or on dry hair?

In theory, wet hair tends to absorb better the nutritive substances applied on it, so it would better to apply the mask on wet hair. However, in realty the difference is not that big.

I usually apply the hair mask on dry hair and it works great, so as far as I’ve seen, that thing with dry or wet hair doesn’t matter so much. If you want to wet your hair before, you are free to do it, but if you don’t want to, you don’t have to worry, there won’t be any visible difference.

There is one important thing, however. Hair masks are very hard to apply on oily hair, so if you usually have greasy hair, make sure you wash it before, and apply the mask afterwards.

Should you apply it only on the hair ends or on the whole hair?

how to apply a hair mask correctlyThis probably depends of the hair mask you’re using, but when it comes to home made masks, I usually apply them on the whole hair. I do this because they don’t really make my hair oily, probably because they don’t contain any parabens or toxic stuff.

But again, if you have oily hair and you’re using a mask based on olive/coconut/castor or any other oil, I guess it would be better not to apply a lot at the roots, because these oils could actually make your hair look greasy even faster than usual.

Anyway, you can’t be sure of this because it differs from person to person, so the best is to try this yourself and see.

My usual method

  • Sectioning the hair in several parts and tying it

This is not very difficult to do, but it’s important because you will manage to apply the hair mask all over your scalp and hair, which would lead to a better nourishing.

  • Start applying the hair mask with a brush

how to apply a hair mask correctlyOr you can do it only with your hands, but I doubt you’d like that.

Anyway, you can start by applying the mask with the brush on the first part of hair you sectioned. Make sure you cover all of your hair, starting from the roots and insisting on the strands (or on the ends if your hair is damaged).

  • Do this with every part of the hair your sectioned

Normally, it shouldn’t take very much, it would probably take more until you get used to the procedure. At the end, it is important to check if you’ve applied the mask everywhere.

  • Wrap your hair and let the mask sit

For this you can use a towel, a shower cap or any other thing. The time you have to let the mask sit depends, but generally it’s at least an hour, so make sure you’re comfortable.

I’ve also attached a video from YouTube here, probably seeing it would make things much easier than this theory. The girl that’s doing the video applies the hair mask in the exact way in which I do, so I definitely advise you to do it in this manner, I can guarantee it works.

So as you can see, applying a hair mask is not a very difficult thing, and there are many ways in which you can do it. I’ve showed you mine because I guess it’s pretty simple, but you can feel free to use another one if you want, the important is to get the same effect.

In case you find it too hard or if you have any questions, please feel free to write me and I will be more than happy to help you if I can. 🙂
